MICROBIOLOGICAL MEASUREMENT OF AIR

The UNE 100012 standard defines the method for evaluating and assessing facilities by measuring the CFU (Colony Forming Units) found in the system. The comparison of the results with the values established in the standard will determine if disinfection is necessary.

The air is sucked through a removable head with 1 mm diameter holes, at a speed of 100 liters per minute. In just 7 minutes, microorganisms are collected on a plate, which is then removed, incubated and the colonies that have grown on the medium are counted. The count, together with the volume of air sampled, is used to calculate the number of colony forming units (CFU) per cubic meter of air.
